Network of facilitators in sustainable and circular construction/renovation

Need help with your sustainable and/or circular building project? Call on our network of facilitators!

Réseau des facilitateurs en construction/rénovation durable et circulaire

Are you drawing up a sustainable or circular services or works contract? Are you implementing the DNSH (do no significant harm) principles? Would you like to build in a more sustainable or circular way? And you've got some questions?

Don't hesitate to send an email to the network of facilitators in sustainable and circular construction/renovation: facilitateurs.construction.durable@icedd.be.

The Public Service of Wallonia recently set up this network, made up of experts in the sector. It provides technical (standards, biosourced materials, reused components, waste management, etc.) and legal assistance (environmental regulations) to move towards more sustainable and circular management in construction. It also provides advice and financial support.

Who is the network for?

  • Walloon public authorities: all Walloon contracting authorities, authors of public-sector specifications who need to award a "project designers" services contract or a works contract.
  • Project owners/project designers with a project located in Wallonia: in this context, private and non-profit contracting authorities can also benefit from consulting and advisory services to successfully complete circular and sustainable renovation and/or construction policies.
  • Building professionals with a project located in Wallonia: this category brings together companies that need to respond to tenders and, in some cases, need advice or judicious technical, legal and financial opinions to do so.

What services are offered?
  • Help when designing sustainable/circular projects
  • Support in drafting a sustainable/circular services contract for "project designers"
  • Assistance in drafting a sustainable/circular works contract
  • Support in executing a sustainable/circular project
  • Advice on implementing the DNSH principle

What themes are considered?

The support mechanism will cover specific themes related to sustainable construction/renovation, including aspects of circularity. The various themes addressed will concern topics such as analysing renovation vs deconstruction/construction, choosing materials (new materials, re-used materials, biobased materials, etc.), the building's environmental performance (use of the Totem tool), using the best available practices on construction sites (BATs), waste management, CO2 emissions, energy, water, land management, biodiversity, noise/vibrations, eco-design, modularity, spatial and technical reversibility, the principle of materials and equipment accessibility, etc.

Furthermore, the network will gradually be creating several practical tools to help companies in their approaches to integrating and implementing circularity within their activities. This will include FAQs covering the most frequently asked questions as well as explanatory sheets and videos.

The network is financed by the Walloon Recovery Plan.
